This is the oldest hotel in Florence
and was well known to Italian and foreign travellers as far
back as the 1300s. It is this long and illustrious past which
has given rise to its current reputation as an ‘eccentric’ and
inexpensive hotel in Florence.
We have 78 rooms scattered throughout this 14th century Renaissance
building and no two are alike. As a consequence it is our policy
not to show them on this website - we do not wish to deceive
as our rooms do differ greatly in terms of size.
The old staircase, the welcoming
dining room used for breakfast, the two elevators*, the furnishings
- furniture, rugs and period ornaments are all characteristic
features in our hotel. Recently the famous Italian film director
Dario Argento, the master of horror, shot several scenes in
the lobby...
Apart from the hotel's location very near the Ponte Vecchio
, one of our biggest selling points is something that no other
3 star Florence hotel can boast - we have our own billiard room
and host professional tournaments. Use of the billiard table
is strictly for guests of the Hotel Porta Rossa Florence.
